About this free numpad typing test
What this numpad typing test measures
The numpad (10-key) test uses multi-line numeric prompts—not English paragraphs. Press Enter between lines the way you would in data-entry work. WPM still uses the five-character word rule so scores stay comparable across Type Faster specialty modes.
A separate keypad heatmap highlights slow or error-prone keys after the run. That is different from the full-keyboard heatmap on the one-minute prose test.
When to use numpad vs the 1-minute test
Choose numpad when you care about invoicing, inventory, spreadsheets, or other keypad workflows. Choose the standard one-minute test for prose speed and general keyboard accuracy.
For keystrokes-per-hour style hiring screens, also see the KPH test and the WPM calculator’s KPH converter—those surfaces explain the math without mixing it into this sixty-second keypad run.
Setup tips for honest 10-key scores
Use a physical numeric keypad when you can. Laptop number rows and on-screen keypads produce different habits. If scores feel unstable, run Labs preflight or the keyboard checker before blaming technique.
