Who operates Type Faster

Type Faster (type-faster.com) is an independent typing practice product operated by Cliburn Solano. It is not a reseller of third-party typing courses and is not affiliated with other typing brands that may appear in search results.

The product is built and maintained as a focused practice site: timed tests, diagnostics, passage libraries, and optional member features—not a generic content mill.

Our mission

We make typing practice simple, measurable, and honest. Whether you are learning the basics or chasing a new personal best, Type Faster is designed to give clear feedback—speed, accuracy, and a useful next step—without trapping you in ads-only mirrors or opaque scoring.

Guests can run the free one-minute test immediately. Signed-in members unlock longer modes, progress history, drills that target weak keys, compete surfaces, and cross-device saves.

What makes Type Faster different

Most sites offer a single prose timer. Type Faster also ships specialty modes and labs that match how people actually type at work and at the keyboard:

• Specialty timed tests with separate leaderboards—numpad / 10-key, punctuation symbols, punctuation, hand-zone letters, direction keys, and more
• Typing preflight and keyboard diagnostics in Labs (key map, latency, debounce, rollover, polling primer) so you can trust a benchmark before you chase WPM
• Machine-steno practice and lesson ladder for chord-based practice in the browser
• Passage libraries: public-domain Story Library, original Game Lore summaries, and Movie Plots typing—not scraped copyrighted book dumps
• Calm keyboard-break guides between timed runs (public guides; mini-games are member features)
• Anonymous encouragement (“cheers”) and country boards when you opt in—identity by display name and avatar, not username-only shoutouts

What is free vs signed-in

Core practice stays free: the one-minute test, many specialty modes, Labs tools such as the WPM calculator and keyboard checker, and reading the blog and keyboard-break guides do not require a paid plan.

A free account unlocks saving progress, weak-key drills tied to your runs, longer timed modes where gated, steno lessons, compete features (events, races, challenges), and profile/social surfaces. Employer hiring assessments are a separate product for teams—see Hire and the FAQ for pricing.

Employer hiring assessments

Type Faster also offers employer typing assessments: invite candidates to a timed test, review verified WPM and accuracy, and manage links from a hiring dashboard. Hiring plans are separate from free personal practice; details live on the Hire page and in the FAQ.

Privacy and integrity

We publish clear Privacy and Terms pages covering practice telemetry, hiring candidate data, optional cheers, and anti-cheat expectations. Scores are meant for honest practice and fair compete—not for gaming leaderboards with paste or automation.
