Keyboard Delay: When It Is Software—and When It Is Hardware
Delay complaints jump to RMAs too fast. Learn quick signals that separate driver stacks, filters, and bad switches before you ship a keyboard back.
Software delay often hits every key equally
If all keys feel sluggish after an OS update, suspect global filters, GPU scheduling, or Bluetooth stack changes before a single switch.
Latency testers that spike uniformly across keys usually point up-stack.
End a latency investigation with a short timed test on a passage you know well. Numbers should translate into calmer corrections, not just prettier charts.
When comparing Bluetooth and wired, idle the board for five minutes between modes so power states do not contaminate the first burst.
Try the latency tester
Sample end-to-end delay in milliseconds inside the same browser you use for Type Faster. Log median and jitter after cable, receiver, or power changes—then rerun a timed test to see if rhythm calms down.

Treat polling Hz as a ceiling, not a personality. Firmware debounce and transport still dominate what your fingers feel day to day.
